Were Our Hearts Not Burning

Were Our Hearts Not Burning

Passage: Luke 24:13-35

Speaker: Dr. Steven Laufer

Series: Easter Sunday

Category: Sunday Sermons

Keywords: prophecy, resurrection, sacrifice, salvation

Luke’s account of the resurrection is immediately followed by Jesus’s covert appearance to a couple of his followers. In Jesus’s conversation with them, he is troubled that they do not know their own scriptures enough to realize what is taking place. And so, starting with the Old Testament, he explains it all to them. The story of Easter is not only significant in its own right, it is significant because it brings centuries of history, where God walked with his people Israel, to a major turning point: the point at which people can know God and walk with him, not through the Laws of the OT, but through the Holy Spirit of God himself, dwelling within us, made possible because of the sacrifice of Jesus.
