Watch & Pray Lenten Series
February 21 - March 28
"Watch and Pray" are words Jesus used on the night of His agony, prayer, and arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. They were spoken to His closest friends, as He asked them to pray both for Him and for themselves. It is sad and sobering that His friends failed Him when, three times, He returned after His own prayers of weeping and loud crying and found them asleep. The words and the experience of failure, however, were never forgotten by those disciples. They often repeated the story of their failure to later followers of Christ, using these same moral watchwords. We will look at some New Testament passages where these key words are found, and remind ourselves to be prepared when the moment comes to be courageous as followers of Jesus.
