Step Into Ministry
UBC’s philosophy of discipleship is that we know and do. To that end, UBC is committed to help each UBCer discover, develop, and use their gifts and strengths for a specific place to serve.
Getting started in ministry need not be difficult and UBC desires to help people discover their gifts and strengths through a discovery tool called SHAPE. SHAPE is an acrostic for spiritual gifts, heart (or passion), abilities, personality and experiences. By looking at these aspects of one’s life, it helps people discover how they are made and then how that SHAPE can find a ministry match.
You may already know your SHAPE. If so, you’re invited to look through the current UBC Serve and see the current ministry needs at UBC. If you discover there is not a current ministry to match your SHAPE, feel free to contact the Discipleship Office to explore options of partnering with a community ministry or starting a ministry at UBC.
If you do not know your SHAPE, you’re invited to download the Interest Inventory and the Ministry Discovery worksheet. Complete those items and either talk with your Serving Coordinator or call the Discipleship Office to make an appointment with someone who can help you discover the ministry matches that best fit your SHAPE.
