Living the Story: Allison Wood

Posted by Allison Wood on

This summer, Pastor Steve told the stories of Jonah, Nehemiah and Ruth. The summer series was called Living the Story. We asked you to share your story with us, your UBC Family. These are those stories…

At 25, I was a widow. At 27, I was battling cancer issues and told I would never have children. I lost all hope and trust in God. At 28, I met Beth King and started working at UBC's Kingdom Care. The following year I worked in Weekday and met Melissa Dutton. Slowly my heart became less hardened to the Lord and the love He had for me. Soon after starting work with UBC I met a man and fell in love again something I never thought possible. At 29, due to severe medical issues, I was scheduled to undergo surgery with the possibility of a hysterectomy. I'll never forget praying with Melissa and Mary Michelle. I gave everything up to God, allowing myself to be vulnerable and open that door of trust again. During surgery, the doctors were amazed at how my body had healed, and a hysterectomy wasn't necessary. Despite all odds in June 2016, I became pregnant with my son. During pregnancy, I was told he would never survive, he had Trisomy 18, a fatal condition. Instead of getting bogged down I turned to prayer and the support of the women at UBC for strength. Not only did God allow me to carry my baby boy to term, but he healed him in such a way that NO traces of the fatal Trisomy 18 were found. My son and my life story are truly a testament to the healing powers and the miracles of God. Without the women of UBC, who supported me, prayed with me, cried with me, and gave me strength in my journey, I would not be where I am today. I know without them I would still be lost with a hardened heart.
