Rod and Connie Johnson on Mission

Johnsons-Rod-Connie-051911Oaxaca Mission

Rod and Connie Johnson began taking short term missionary trips shortly after their marriage in 1982. In the year 2000, they answered God’s call to full time missions work in Southern Mexico.

Their focus has been un-reached people groups in the mountains of Oaxaca. Oaxaca has 16 major Indian tribes. There are 195 languages spoken in Oaxaca, so evangelism is a challenge. Because of the remoteness of the area, many of the people groups there still have no evangelical works. Some areas have no known believers. There is much persecution of believers. Every year, many Christians give their lives for their faith in Christ.

The Johnson’s use humanitarian aid as an avenue to open doors to access normally closed regions. Through medical aid and food and clothing, many relationships have been established. There are now four ongoing missions in areas where there once was no knowledge of Christ. Many have come to Christ.

At this time the Johnson family is beginning to reach out to un-reached people in the Northern desert of Coahuila. They are attempting to establish a new mission base there. This new ministry area will allow more opportunities for mission’s teams in the USA to experience foreign missions a bit closer to the US.

Rod is a third generation missionary. He has lived 22 years in Mexico. Rod and Connie desire to help promote missions by providing training, ministry opportunities, short term trips and encouragement to potential future missionaries.

The Johnson’s are independent Baptist missionaries. They have three children. They are not funded by any organization or missions board. They believe that we God call’s us we must obey and go. He will provide through the faithful prayers and support of His children.
