Angel Tree

Provide gifts for inmates’ children during the Christmas season.

Baptist Student Ministry Team (BSM)

UBC provides lunch twice a year for the San Jacinto College BSM. All students are invited to the free Wednesday lunches which are the gateway to reaching students to participate in large and small group Bible study, weekly worship service, retreats, and mission projects.

Bay Area Turning Point Ministry Team

Each week UBCers lead a Bible study for women and one for children who are temporarily housed in a shelter for abused women. During our time together, we make a simple craft, sing, share homemade cookies, and share in prayer.

Beltway 8 Crisis Pregnancy Center Mission Team

UBCers volunteer each week with various projects at the Beltway 8 CPC. Projects vary from light construction to Bible Study leaders to Receptionist and office workers. Additional training is available to become a CPC Counselor.

Champions For Life Ministry Team

Participants are trained & given the opportunity to go inside the walls of Texas prison facilities, to share Christ with inmates who attend large gatherings where athletes and other role models share their own testimonies of faith in Christ.

Disaster Relief Team

There are three disaster relief units at UBC: The Chainsaw Unit, The Clean-out Unit and the Feeding Unit. These units are trained and ready to assist when called out to respond to disaster situations. More information.

Driving With Care Ministry Team

Provides transportation for people who have medical needs and aren’t able to drive themselves, or don't have family or friends to drive them. We need folks who are day-time available with a car and a willingness to drive. Volunteer application.

Faithful Friends Ministry Team

Using our pets to help us make connections, we offer the compassion of Christ to children and senior adults in hospitals, nursing homes, and special facilities. More information.

Furnishings Ministry

Assists people in need in our community to build beautiful new surroundings for their lives by providing them with household furnishings (furniture and housewares) and home decor assistance. Our prayer is that by meeting the furnishings needs of people in the Bay Area community we may also be a light to them so that they may know the love of Christ's people and through our ministry may come to know Christ's love themselves.

Generation One Mission Team

UBC is committed to eliminate poverty, but that is a big initiative. UBC partners with Generation One to work with poverty issues in the Third Ward of Houston.

Habitat For Humanity Mission Team

UBC works with Habitat projects to provide housing for those in need.

Hospital/Nursing Home Visitation Ministry Team

UBCers work on this team to help extend the love, comfort and compassion of Jesus Christ to those admitted to the hospital, in nursing homes, or confined in their homes by illness.

International Student Outreach Mission Team

Discover how you can create an international friendship as you work with international students on the campus of UHCL and San Jacinto College.

International Teachers Mission Team

Millennium Relief and Development host teachers from unreached countries every summer. UBCers works with MR & D to host teachers from abroad while making friends with those teachers.

Keeping In Touch Ministry Team

UBC members regularly visit UBC family members who are homebound to bring encouragement.

Lighthouse of Hope Mission Team (LOH)

LOH brings the hope and joy of Christmas to Bay Area families in need by providing an evening at UBC full of food, celebration, and gifts. UBC'ers serve as bus captains, table hosts, food preparers and servers, gift wrappers, and encouragers.

Manor Care Mission Team

UBC members lead worship services with music, praise singers, and a message for the residents of Manor Care, an assisted living facility.

Military Ministry Team

UBC members offer love and encouragement to UBC-related military personnel and their units stationed overseas, through daily prayer, cards and letters, and care packages.

Missionary Care Coordination of Missionary Response

UBC has several families who are on mission around the world. At times, there is need for UBC to respond to their needs. This team helps to fulfill the responses to the missionary request.

Missionary Care of the Mission House

UBC owns a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house which is available by reservation for missionaries on furlow. As needed, teams are assembled to give upkeep and update to the house.

Mission Centers of Houston

Formerly Baptist Mission Centers, join the team that networks with Chapel services, Childcare during Center activities, Children's & Youth Programs (Kids Club, Teen Club, Tutoring), Adult Ed Programs (English-ESL, Life Skills Programs), and Senior Adult Programs (Clothing Distribution and Food Pantry). UBC members assist with various ministries in these three mission centers:

  • Mission Centers of Houston: Fletcher Center
  • Mission Centers of Houston: Gano Center
  • Mission Centers of Houston: Joy Center

Place of Grace Mission Team

Stemming from the Emerald Pointe Community Church, Place of Grace is a ministry in the Pasadena area.

Plane State Prison Fellowship for Women - Dayton, Texas

UBC members lead a Bible Study and foster a fellowship with the women in the Plane State Prison. This team is comprised of women to help women grow in faith and Christlikeness in a prison environment.

Practical Care Ministry Team

Practical care is offered to those who can’t help themselves due to illness, injury, impairment, age, loss of spouse, etc. Include minor home repair, painting, electrical, plumbing, automotive, yard work, transportation, and advice on more extensive needs.

Ring of Champions Youth Mentoring Ministry Team

Explore the opportunities to help this ministry assist imprisoned youth build a solid foundation for life.

Rosemont Mission Team

The team from UBC leads worship services with music, praise singers, and a message for the residents of Rosemont, an assisted living facility.

South Shaver Pen Pals Mission Team

Work with children of South Shaver Elementary School to help with English language skills through the Pen Pal program. Pen pals are paired every fall and write letters during the school year. The year culminates with a pen pal party in May where pen pals meet.

Walden at UBC — The Donation Garden

Walden at UBC is a donation garden for the local food pantry. The garden team coordinates with the food pantry on produce for donation. Master Gardeners from UBC coordinate the planting plans. Scores of volunteers from UBC and the community tend to the beds and harvest the produce. If you have a green thumb or if you are interested in gardening and learning gardening skills, feel free to join the team. The estate of Mae Walden, a long time deacon at UBC, provided the start up funds for the garden which gives us the double meaning for Walden at UBC. Future expansion of the garden includes additional beds, composting areas, shaded gathering and teaching areas.

Whitcomb Elementary Mission Team

Whitcomb Elementary is the elementary school and school district adopted by UBC. Discover how you can help with the needs of the children and staff at Whitcomb.

Write Way Prison Ministry Team

Team members grade papers of inmates participating in Bible correspondence classes, with opportunity to offer words of encouragement and help.
