Meet Our Pastor

Steve Laufer, a young pastor with a compelling focus on service and missions, is now in his first year at UBC. His primary focus is helping people better understand the power of God’s Word to transform their lives.

Steve’s history has well-prepared him to serve our congregation. He was Youth Minister at First Baptist in Harlingen, Texas. He has also served as pastor at First Baptist in Mount Olive, Mississippi, where he fostered a growing focus on outreach in the surrounding community and abroad. Today, Steve is excited to lead a church where people have a cooperative desire to grow in service.

He holds degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he holds a doctorate in Old Testament Studies and Biblical Hebrew.

Steve and Jana Laufer have been married for 12 years and have two sons. Jana has spent the past several years developing and leading community children’s ministries. Today, she’s especially focused on women’s ministries. “My family and I are enjoying getting to know our Clear Lake community,” Steve notes. “We’re especially thrilled to find passionate Christ-followers.” In their free time, the Laufers enjoy watching football and eating out with family and friends.
