Stories from our Family

There are not enough words to express to you all. My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude for the opportunity given to intern for you and your families over the summer. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with your families, especially your children, and the wonderful joy they brought to me personally. I am truly grateful for the trust you placed in me to be a part of molding your child’s spiritual growth. The impact UBC has left with myself and my family cannot be forgotten. Thank you from the depths of my heart for the impact you have given me. (Danielle Caples, UBC Preschool Summer Intern)

7 years ago, I was in a Wednesday night prayer meeting where we focused prayer on volunteers for the Preschool Ministry. God clearly told me, “You can continue praying about it, or you can help serve.” As a father of three, I appreciate how the preschool ministry has served my kids. I love the opportunity to interact with the little ones and show them the love of Jesus each week. It’s important for men to serve in this ministry, as some of the kids clearly connect with us. If you’re praying for the ministry (and I hope you are), you too can continue praying…or help serve. May God Bless the Little Children. (Brady Pyle)

I received a wedding invitation in the mail yesterday from one of my UBC babies when my class was in the other building down the hall from the Chapel. I have taught in the preschool department at UBC for 27 years. Many of my babies are being baptized, graduating from high school/college and having babies of their own. I love the opportunity to introduce babies to God's love, and to help them begin learning at an early age that church is a happy place where they are loved. It is important to me that the parents know their babies are loved and they are safe. "Unto the least of these...unto Me"! (Van Roberson)

Serving in the Preschool Ministry is a wonderful opportunity to show God’s love to our youngest ones. Providing a consistent and caring presence to new parents is also an important aspect to our ministry. Time served in Preschool Ministry at UBC: 14 years. (Scott Killingsworth)

In serving the UBC preschool ministry for the past 16 years, my personal mission has been to let each child know that they are special. Even though I am not their mother, I still care for and love them the same. I have enjoyed loving on all my kids. I am currently serving in the newborn baby room and what can be any better than being able to hold and love on a sweet new baby? (Dianna Liberty)

When we started teaching kindergarteners 9 years ago, we had no idea how much of a blessing these few hours each week would be in our lives! We love seeing their faces light up when they learn something new about Jesus. We get the chance to watch the children mature physically, emotionally and more importantly, grow in their understanding of how much God loves them. Kindergarten is a great age, because when they arrive in August, very few can write much more than their names, but by the end of the year, they can write lists of words describing how to be a friend or a good helper. While the lessons we teach the children are the basic building blocks of our faith, you would be surprised at how many times these lessons have been excellent reminders of how David and I need to behave outside the Sunday School classroom. We are grateful to have the opportunity to teach your children and watch them move on to be baptized and become a part of the UBC youth programs. Students from our first class are now 9th graders and we look forward to having each and every one of them back under our wings during VISION when they are seniors! (Lauri Gordon)

“I have so enjoyed my role in working with Preschool Ministries the past 20 years. I continue to be amazed at the spiritual truths that our children are learning at such a young age. God has taught me much about His love for me and all of His children, young and old.” (Sarah Hale)

I wanted to share a story about the impact that the UBC Preschool Ministries has had on our children. Last night my kids and I were driving home after dropping my wife off at church. My 3 year old son was in the back seat and casually informed me that “mommy is at church and is learning about Jesus.” He then confidently added, “I learn about Jesus at church too and my sister learns about Jesus at church too.” From the songs he sings and the stories he tells us after we leave UBC it is very apparent that the investment made by the Preschool Ministry has had a great impact to our children’s spiritual journey. We are grateful for your partnership with our family in building spiritual foundations for the best gifts God has blessed us with on earth, our children.. - Jeremy Del Greco
