More than 200 Attend the Lawrence Welk Dinner Show
(UBC NEWS) Our Lawrence Welk Dinner Show and Silent auction was a big success with more than $6,000 raised for the Jerry O'Neal Scholarship Fund. The even was sponsored by the UBC Foundation and hosted by our Primetime Ministries on Thursday, April 3. Rick Carpenter could not have been a more entertaining "Lawrence Welk" if he tried.
A big thank you goes to all the musicians and actors who performed throughout the evening. Thanks also to all who generously donated items for the the silent auction.
The Jerry O'Neal Scholarship Fund gives scholarships to one girl and one boy in the Senior class each year. Winners of the scholarship will be announced in June during the Senior graduation luncheon.
Women Go on Mission to Honduras
(UBC NEWS) At the beginning of April, 14 women participated in our second trip to Honduras with Westside Ministries. More than 280 pairs of shoes were distributed to children who also received vitamins and parasite medication. Each child also received an illustrated Bible story book. Three or four special needs cases received medical attention.
The team ministered to the women in the church in one local village by supplying materials for making bracelets and teaching them to use this project as a fundraiser for their church. The Gospel was shared with more than 600 people, and more than 400 pounds each of beans, rice and corn were distributed to about 280 families.
