UBC Women's Retreat - February 10-12, 2011

“Oh that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.”
—Psalm 55:6

What a wonderful time we had at Camp Tejas in Giddings, Texas as women of UBC gathered for REST — Relax and Enjoyed Spiritual Truth. Over 75 women made the trip, several bringing friends or family members, and everyone enjoyed the option of spending either one or two nights.

We enjoyed an evening of hymn singing in a little antique chapel with music led by Micah Duckett. We had a hayride and played Bunko. We went antique shopping and toured the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham. Some scrapbooked for hours while visiting together.

We had lots of fun dressing up in boas and silly hats in the photo booth. (Thank you Jenny Verghese, Michelle Smith and Jennifer Broddle for making that possible!)

We studied the Bible, broke into small groups to share our lives, and Lora Doremus shared from scripture that God is LORD over the waters of chaos.

On Saturday we enjoyed three breakout sessions:

  • • Carol Homan spoke about Christ centered relationships.
  • • Karol Peters addressed the concerns of working women.
  • • Angle Reeves talked about how to devote our schedules to God.

Thank you to everyone that contributed your time and your talents to make this retreat so successful! It was great to get away and fellowship with our wonderful sisters in Christ!
