Every year UBC dedicates one Sunday in September to honor and encourage those who have devoted their lives to educating our children. Teachers, coaches, counselors, administrative and support staff, and the rest who help parents to shape the lives of students are appreciated immensely.

The week before Educator Sunday a box of Mexican Sweet Breads from Aranda’s Bakery was taken by parents to area schools which prompted conversations during teacher breaks about UBC and Christianity in general. UBC children and students were given invitations to share and several of their teachers came to church that Sunday, some for the first time. One teacher was given an invitation last year, was moved to a new school and was given another invitation this year by a different student!

On Sunday, September 23 each Educator who attended worship services at UBC was given a sticker to wear that stated “I’m an Educator.” Many professionals from local school districts participated in the worship services in the form of music and prayer and all Educators were asked to stand and be recognized and applauded for their service. Everyone enjoyed donuts and juice in the Fellowship Hall and each Educator was given a small gift as a token of our thankfulness for all that they do.
